So Al’s book, The Mapmaker Chronicles has hit the shelves and the crowd went wild. I can’t tell you how proud I am of my sis (I nearly wrote ‘big sis’ there but she might kill me). You’ve honestly never met a person who works as hard as Al does at bettering the almighty talent she was born with.
In other news, the Badoo got “the pink eye” this week, Max is still batting the plantar wart and added an ear infection to the load and then Cappers hurt her shoulder at gymnastics. It was Bart’s birthday on Wednesday (hence my How to be a good husband tribute, I love that man like the planets love the sun) and Cappers turned nine on Thursday (how is she NINE?).
Yep, it’s been quite the week.
Other things that had me this week:
Reading – French Women Don’t Get Fat Cookbook. I know, I know… I mean, I had major issues with the book, so why am I reading the bloody cookbook? Is this my first hate read?
Writing – for the crickets it sometimes feels.
Making – a video about building online communities; it’s up on 22/10 at midday. I look ridiculous. But do watch Eden’s on finding your voice. And Kel’s on better blog design. And Lisa’s on blog visuals.
Wishing – everyone would stop getting really weird illnesses around here.
Loving – my sister’s success.
Wondering – why I find stuff like this mesmerising… I mean, who cares, right?
Happy reading.

I’ve seen my self on the video already and believe me, there is nothing gorgeous about that head. But I hope I have something useful to say and then I won’t care about looking like a mingin. x
Carly Findlay says

Zanni Louise says
I just finished Mapmaker Chronicles today. Loved it! How gorgeous is Quinn? I am totally recommending this to the boys in my class. You have every right to be a proud (little) sis. x
Maxabella says
He’s such a wonderful character, Zanni, drawn real. x
Pinky Poinker says
I’m never prouder of anyone more than my sister. Thank God I have one. I’d feel I’d really have missed out otherwise. And Bron… we don’t mind being called big sisters. It’s a sign of respect 🙂
Maxabella says
I remember when I was pregnant for the third time and I said to everyone “I don’t mind whether it’s a boy or a girl”, but deep down I knew I really wanted it to be a sister for Cappers – and it was. I think every girl should have a sister (or two!). x
Lisa@RandomActsOfZen says
Well hello, Jiminy here 🙂
I can’t wait for Wednesday, you’ll be fab, Bron! And hopefully all your weirdly annoying illnesses are on the way out.
Have a gorgeous weekend x
Maxabella says
I think “the pink eye” is ruminating behind my left eye as I type, Lisa… not ‘looking’ good… x
Kirsty @ My Home Truths says
My middle child turns nine next week too. I’m with you Bron – how are they nine already???
Maxabella says
NINE!? It’s outrageous for the middle to be NINE!!! x
Kim @landofzonkt says
When it rains it pours right? You poor thing!
I hope everyone is on the mend soon, why it all seems to happen at once is beyond me.
Your sister is incredible and I was looking to get these books for my nephews for Xmas. They’d love them, very exciting,
That’s funny, I love lookin at odd things sciencey like that.. I look at the pollen spore and can see why it ripped me a new on over the 1st 2weeks of spring! Such a love hate relationship with spring.
Have a great weekend. x
Maxabella says
It looks like something from a medieval torture chamber and that’s exactly how it feels for many of us in spring!! I do find the ‘microscopic’ view of life to be very inspirational from a design perspective. So much to see there. x
Lauren @ Create Bake Make says
Gah, what a week! I hope all the sickness passes soon and you all have a wonderful weekend x
Maxabella says
Thanks Lauren. I am DONE with the weird maladies!! x
ClaireyHewitt says
that’s a busy week…I started the christmas shopping and included a couple of Al’s books, I feel very smug about knowing that they won’t have read them yet.
Maxabella says
Christmas shopping! Hat’s off to you, lady. x
Kylie Purtell - A Study in Contradictions says
Argh, mystery/weird persisting illnesses suck big time! I hope they all piss off for you real soon and stay pissed off for at least the next 6 months! I think you’ve earned the break!
Maxabella says
Agree! Although now that’s we’ve said ‘pissing’ I’ll be Cappers comes down with a UTI next week… sigh. x
Bec @ Styled by Bec says
When it rains it pours – Your poor family getting sick and poor you having to deal with it. Hoping for fast recoveries and no more sickness this year! x
Maxabella says
I wouldn’t mind a small ailment myself, just so I could have a lie down. x
Mother Down Under says
Not pink eye!
Where I went to college in the States we had an outbreak of pink eye that was so bad, the Center for Disease Control came to study us.
The only sort of consolation was that everyone had it.
I hope the weekend brings some good health and good rest!
Maxabella says
It spreads like wildfire! The kids in Lottie’s class are pinking up like flies! x
Sandra Kelly says
I’m a lurking cricket 😉 Have a nice weekend and a better week ahead Xx
Maxabella says
Hello little cricket! Thanks for saying hi, Sandra. It’s just so heartwarming when a reader suddenly pops up to say hello. x
Lucy says
We are loving Mapmaker here!! My 11 year old son and I are sharing it between us before it rotates around to the others!
Maxabella says
Book sharing with your son is just so very cute, Lucy. x
Annaleis says
What a busy week. Hope the illnesses all disappear and you have an uneventful lead up to the end of the year (in that department). I’ve decided the crickets must just love reading! Though I’m playing catch up on reading this week myself as I worked all week and missed so much! Making time to catch up today!
Kristy @ Loulou Zoo says
I hope the illness goes away…that microscope stuff is cool!!! x
Sonia from Sonia Styling says
Bloody Mercury being in retrograde – it’s doing all kinds of silly things to us, isn’t it? Hope everyone turns the corner very soon. x
