It’s no surprise that I’ve had a bit of a shitty week. Well, shitty is probably too strong a word, we’re talking more like a pus-y week. A snotty week? A phlemy week? Anyway, I’m clearly not myself.
As the world so often does, I found solace in the wisdom of Dolly Parton.
I also found solace in getting out and about, taking the sculpture by the sea walk with the family late on Saturday afternoon, eating pizza on the beach and scrambling back up the hill with full bellies. That was a magic day.
Other things that had me this week:
Reading – The Last Summer of the Camperdowns by Elizabeth Kelly. So fabulous I read it cover to cover when I should have been doing many other things. I reckon we should make it a Pink Fibro Bookclub book, Al…
Writing – a plan for our trip to Mullum this week. Yay! Magic days coming up!
Making – a mess of things, mostly.
Wishing – I wasn’t so darn sensitive.
Loving – my husband.
Wondering – how much longer this snotty, phlegmy, pus-y fug is planning to hang around. I’m hoping to drive over it on our way to Mullum.
Happy reading.
x

I hope you kick that phlegm’s backside. Soon. Loved your Dolly post. She’s got brains in her head, and feet in her fabulous shoes. x

What a cute way of expressing Dolly, Em. x

Here’s to healthier days and escapes! I’m looking forward to next weekend in Queensland, child free, so I can only imagine a longer time away – enjoy it x
Maxabella says
Escape! I just can’t wait. Even though it feels like we’ve had more than enough escapes this term, I still really need it. x
Kim @landofzonkt says
Oh hope you feel better. Everyone around me is sick ATM. Was me but now everyone else’s turn, it goes from an attack of allergies (I.e hay fever) then sinus then infection. The joys of an indecisive season!
Enjoy your trip. xx
Maxabella says
It’s so hard when everyone is sick. I hope it’s all better soonest, Kim. x

I have so many memories of glorious music festivals Bron, good on you!! I hope this sees the end of your yucky week, and the start of a lovely Summer full of magic days.
I’ve just found out that we’re going away for 6 days down the coast in 3 weeks, and am deliriously happy. Bring on the magic!
I’m glad you got to the beach lovely, always a tonic I think xx

Yay for road trips (and for quiet weekends – I’m feeling SO MUCH BETTER this week!). x
Simone @Greatfun4kids says
Ahhh sucky phlegmy snotty week. I’ve had one too. one of those ones where your kids are struggling, REALLY struggling and your heart is breaking for them. I’m with you in massive sympathy/empathy Bron, and needing a few magic days of my own to perk me up. Yours sound beautiful. Hubby gets back from building the orphanage (he’s been gone two weeks on a team to the Philippines and I’ve been dealing with crises solo)… maybe a magic day is coming my way sooooon???!
I hope so cos I need all my energy to stage a HUNGER GAMES PARTY next week xx
Maxabella says
You’ve really been through it, Sim and now HUNGER GAMES? Gasp! That will be awesome! You KNOW you will pull it off… x
sarah@Tomfo says

Hope it went okay. It was like the sun came out at our place for me. Yay! x

Hey, you driving all the way to Mullum? Or flying? I grew up not far from there:) At Grafton now, just ‘down the road’ be sure to wave as you fly overhead, or if you need somewhere to stop on the way feel free to contact me and drop in. Though maybe your husband is like mine, you don’t stop unless absolutely necessary! Need toilet? You went three hours ago, surely you don’t really need to go;)
Maxabella says
Erin, I didn’t know you were up that way! We are road tripping it. I’ll email you! x
Lydia C. Lee says
Wishing I wasn’t so sensitive. There’s something in that…I wonder if it can be done….you’ve given me food for thought.
Maxabella says
Desensitise ourselves? Well, I’ve been trying to allow emotions to flow through me, rather than block or worry at them. This has helped me enormously. I’m letting the way I feel just ‘be’. x
Min@WriteoftheMiddle says
I hope you are feeling a bit better now!! I wish I wasn’t so sensitive too! Those sculptures by the bay look amazing – I’ve seen quite a few blog posts with piccies. We’re all in lockdown here in BrisVegas with G20 on the go. Can’t wait till it’s all over! Hope you have a great weekend! 🙂 xo
Maxabella says
Brisbane is quite the world hub at the moment! It deserves to be – I love Brissy. My parents are both QLDers so we’ve spent quite a bit of time there and have family up in Aspley. I quite like the whole idea of Brisneyland. x
Julie @ Off to the park says
I am a sensitive soul too. I let way too much stuff bother me. Instead of being in the moment and enjoying what I have I tend to worry about others, what’s going to happen in the future and things that are out of my control. I am looking forward to seeing Popette sing on stage in her school’s Celebration Concert Tuesday night 🙂
Enjoy your trip to Mullum Bron! I hope you can let go of all that snotty, phlegmy, pus-y fug and you come home refreshed 🙂
Maxabella says
I love the end of year concert, enjoy your lovely little girl singing her heart out, Julie.
I’m sure there is a reason we are such over-thinkers. I’m waiting for all to be revealed… x
look see. by naomi fenton says
That Dolly does know what she’s talking about! I’m looking forward to finishing up the school year and starting summer holidays – those are magic days indeed.
Maxabella says
So true – looking forward to something is the thing I’ve lacked a bit lately, but I’m starting to get it back. I think sometimes we just need to be sad for no real reason and just let ourselves be for a while. x
Zanni Louise says
Oh Mullum! You are kind of inpiring me to go, even if on the off chance I bump into you there 🙂 I should go…It’s a great earthy festival. Make sure you see Starboard Cannons. They are one of my favourites! x
Maxabella says
I’m so excited. It’s something completely different to our family (the only ‘festival’ we’ve ever managed is Newtown!). It’s going to be awesome (the kids are already whinging about the drive, of course… sigh…) x
Sonia Life Love Hiccups says
I am far too sensitive for my own good too hun so we can be sensitive Sallies together. Have the most fab time away this weekend.. and hopefully we will get to catch up again in the new year xx
Maxabella says
I will miss the drinking. x
