I had a job interview this week. It was my first job interview in almost a decade. That’s right, folks, despite being gainfully employed all those years, I haven’t had a formal job interview since 2006. Networking is so important in life!
A job interview! Bit out of the blue, huh? I’m very happy being a work-from-home freelancer, but when this job ad was sent to me by a friend I knew I had to go for it. It’s a job that feels tailor-made for me and brings together so many things that I’m passionate about. I don’t mean to be cagey, but I’m not going to tell you what the job is because when I don’t get it I won’t be so embarrassed… “tailor-made”, what was I thinking?!
Other things that had me this week:
Reading – LOVED The Shock of the Fall by Nathan Filer and just started on Michael Robotham’s Life or Death to get me over the shock of finishing such a good book.
Writing – Job application (see above).
Making – things with sticks. Sticks are cool.
Wishing – for naught. I’m trying hard to love the moment.
Loving – these dolls. Swoooon.
Wondering – what I was thinking when I was thinking Helsinki for Christmas. Back to the French Alps… it’s a hard life.
A Quirky Bird may be a bright new blog on the Aussie scene but Zoe has been blogging for quite a while. She has a cool, calm approach to life but comes out fighting when she has to. I like her lightness, her spirit and her wit. I think you will too.
Happy reading.

Looking up your ‘good book’ recommendation. Love a good book but just find it hard to move on when I finish one! I don’t want it to end and don’t want to move on so quickly so I linger in ‘not reading limbo’ for days … but to follow on with a good book … now that might work, off to look up your recommendation. Oh, and good luck!
Jodi Gibson (JF Gibson Writer) says
Oh I’m so excited for you Bron. Can’t wait to hear all about it! My last job interview was *gulp* in 2000! Got the job and worked there for 6 years and then transitioned to working for myself and have been ever since!

Hmm about 5 years I think, but I haven’t worked since I had Eve so that’s why. I don’t look forward to getting back into the whole job search process!

Gosh, I think my last job interview was back in 2001!! Well….I had my teaching interview on graduation, but it wasn’t a job interview as such – more of a rating system.
Scary!
Have a great weekend B.

Oh thats brilliant Bron! I can imagine the job interview must have been so nerve wracking!! I’m a bit the same as you, except I’ve never actually had an official job interview – each of my jobs have sort of fallen into place (I’d probably be terrible and just waffle on). You on the other hand, would have been AWESOME! Hopefully we get to hear all about it soon!

Woot for you. Hope it ends up being what you want to do next..congrats. My last job interview was this year actually – in February – for a volunteer role from which I’ve now moved on. D x

I’ve just clocked up thirteen years of self employment so I guess I last had a job interview about fifteen years ago. But networking is kinda like lots and lots of little informal interviews all the time…. Best of luck! I’m a firm believer that when things are right they will happen, and if they don’t happen it’s because they weren’t right! x
Mother Down Under says
Good luck…I am sure you will get it…and I can’t wait to find out what it is when you do get it!
Laney@thelaneyfiles says
Good luck Bron! If it’s meant to be and all that…..I have had very bad experiences with job interviews, so much so that I break into a cold sweat just thinking about them now. The current job will do, ta! Just joking. A fantastic opportunity is always worth stepping out of your comfort zone for. Fingers crossed for you…
Shelley says
Exciting times Bron. It’s so good to move out of our comfort zone and go for what feels right. x
Vicki @ Boiled Eggs & Soldiers says
Now I’m dying to find out, everything crossed for you. I will have to get onto that book too. Hope you are having a great weekend. x
Nicole - Champagne and Chips says
I have had a few job interviews, I change jobs a bit. But I hadn’t had a formal job interview for a large company, well pretty much ever. Perhaps the last time was a hospital position (although it wasn’t that formal) back in 2006. I went for a new job that was quite corporate in March (and got it) but gosh I was nervous. Fortunately I have dos friends in recruiting that gave me a few tips.
Good luck and I firmly believe that with things like this, what is meant to be will be.
Emily @ Have A Laugh On Me says
I’m so intrigued and also super pumped for you Bron – you’d be such a great asset to any business! Mmm the French Alps x
