My Kidspot Village Voices Grateful prompt this week is ‘Bedtime’ and I confess I find it such an irresistible topic that I’m going to write about it here as well.
As you know, when you go through the big life-change that is Having Babies, many friendships are put to the test. My abiding friendship with Bedtime has been one of those tested. We used to be best buddies, Bedtime and I, but these days we don’t seem to have anything in common. I still love her, I really do, but I can’t seem to find the time for her any more and she just doesn’t understand that I’ve got other priorities. Besides, these new friends I’m hanging out with, they don’t like her very much at all and as much as I love Bedtime, I kinda love my new friends more. Me and Bedtime these days, well, it’s… awkward.
Despite that, this week I’m grateful for…
236. Bedtime – one day my new friends will love you as much as I do and we’ll get back together. I promise.
237. Time out – for both me and my ‘new friends’.
238. Remembering – this was the first year that we didn’t see an Anzac Day parade. We all missed that chance for reflection, although I think the important thing to remember is that the fight for freedom goes on every single day. Then, now and into the future. Maybe one day we will really be free.

I’m still waiting to reunite with my old friend too. It seems particularly unfair when Miss A has a great friend in sleep. There’s no logical reason why I don’t! xx

I seem to have made ‘new friends’ with bedtime… Old friends, you’ll have to wait, I might catch up with you one day.

I am really hopeless about getting to bed too …I love going to bed but the lure of my laptop is so addictive.

I became reacquainted with bedtime during my bloggy break. It was a glorious reunion. I love that picture at the top. Kids and tents, another time-honored friendship.

One of my favourite times of the day. I go with my ipad and a cup of herbal tea! The days have gone when I had a cup of tea in bed in the morning though 🙁

Oh bedtime. My favourite time of the day, but we spend less and less time together these days sadly.

Bedtime and I were best buds as well, and I long for the day I can return to her fold (and convince my child how wonderful her warm embrace truly is!)
And finally, where do you find these divine photo’s? I oh so badly want to curl up in one of those beds…

Having all the little darlings safely tucked up in bed was one of my aahh moments when the famous five were small. Even then it was a relief to this mum’s heart that we had all made it through another day and that they were all securely in their beds sweetly dreaming. I knew even then, that it wouldn’t last forever and that before I could even think possible, they would be grown up and staying up late, interrupting my peaceful evenings!

We missed Anzac Day for the first time too. We have our own battle to fight this year and nobody in any school prefect spots where your absence is gapingly obvious. Our wee-un has been a bit spoilt since the hospital sojourn but she is too delicious to sleep next to. I may be making a rod for my own back here!

Ok, maybe this is one of those times that I am grateful for not having small people in the house. Bedtime and I have been very intimate with each other lately.
Hope you get reacquainted soon, Dee x
