Have you met Glen? I haven’t either, but boy do I like him. His blog is irreverent and funny and honest (and every now and then he does these weird posts pretending he’s some Hollywood wannabe dude called Breeze Van Santo which I totally don’t get but read anyway), but that’s not why I’m dedicating this post to him.
I’ve mentioned him before because up until Sunday when Loz joined the gang, Glen has been my only (unrelated) male follower. He comments and everything (his comments are extremely funny. Check out his musings on my love of birds here). I used to wonder why I didn’t have many male followers (they are so, so welcome). I’m definitely not a girly girl – I know how to roll my own cigarettes, drink bourbon straight up when the mood catches me and I’m a hell of a pool player after a couple of them bourbons. But really, let’s face it, I’m hardly one to shy away from a… delicate subject, am I? I kinda put it aaaall out there. And I do like pretty. A lot.
So, I’m just in love with the fact that this bloke (and he is a BLOKE) would diligently stick with all the posts about female toilet habits and pretty pom-poms and garlands and strutting your stuff and childbirth and breastfeeding and even, god help him, bikini-line waxing. He reads them all. He says they “scare the hell out of him“, but he reads them anyway. I like that in a man.
So Glen, I know you’re reading this and I just wanted to say, from all of us scary women in Maxabellaland, that we love blokes like you. We really, really do.

Glen, on behalf of women bloggers everywhere, you rock!
I don’t think any men follow me, Maxabella. My blog’s got the word ‘ironing’ in it. It works as a kind of invisible man-forcefield.

I have read some of his witty comments on your blog, he seems lovely.
I don’t have any male followers yet. Maybe my blog is too girly š
Glen says
yoinks – well that’s a shock!! not sure what to say – maybe I’ll just bask in my own brilliance for a bit.
Thanks.
Ironing lady I do not fear you – I’m ex forces and am more than in tune with my ironing side. I shall check you out soon. Kelly, I’m sure I’ve been over to yours already.. hmmm

Oh yes – I love Glen to! And as far as male followers, check out my blog today as well. Seems great minds think alike.
Go Glen!

I am also a big out and proud Glen lover. Glen follows my blog too and I don’t even mention secret lady business as much as he does.

God yes, a man who can deal with the pretty and “women’s business” and still give his own thoughts/opinions is a rare find….Unless, it is just the circle of male friends I mix with?
I read one of Glen’s posts a while back when he linkied up with your Saturday Grateful linky…It was a pretty fab post about women and the body image stuff…He gave a GREAT guy’s perspective. I should visit his blog more often. Thanks for the reminder! A little diversity is good for the soul!

I’m loving the image of Glen basking in his brilliance. And loving that he hangs in amongst all the secret women’s business. I’ve got a couple of male followers, but they rarely comment. I think they just like to laugh at me, which is okay with me.
Well done for sticking around Glen – but never take Maxabella on at pool. She’s a mean pool player.
the textured leaf says
Nope. Not one male follower for me. Im now wondering what im doing wrong?
Hello Glen
Toni says
I’ve only just started reading Glens’ blog (hi Glen) and it’s pretty damn funny.
I think I have a couple of male followers but they’re the spammy kind so they don’t count.
Gifts of Serendipity says
There’s probably way too much powder blue and pink action happening in my space for all but the most intrepid guys to venture in [Yeah Loz!] at the moment.
It’s a shame though because I love the balance that ‘everyone’ brings to the table and if they’ve got a sense of humour ie; you Ms Bella and by the sounds of it Great Guy Glen [GGG] then all the better!
Am off to dabble in the land of GGG, sounds like a cool place to hang.

Glen – you and I must have good taste.
Ladies – I promise I will check in on each of you over the next couple of days š

this man is so daring, coming into our world , but all for his benefit i suggest. this blogging stuff is like secret women’s business but only it’s not that secret! Good on him. i checked him out! how cheeky is he, and he referred to you as crapping on about women’s stuff, but in such an adorable manner i had no choice but to join ranks and follow too! Thanks for sharing. i love it when i find blogs through others i love! mhaw mhaw to you xx

I have but one male follower who rarely delurks and is a friend of a friend though I don’t think he remembers meeting me and getting drunk together some years back. He’s been around since the beginning bless him and I do love that he’s there. I think maybe I’m too girly. Anyhoo, I think Glen deserves a gold star and he probably learns a lot in Maxabellaland you know! š
Kirsty says
No chance in hell I have any male readers…nothing even remotely interesting to a bloke over at mine. I think even The Date’s given up reading!
Hooray for Glen & hooray for you & your fag rolling, bourbon slugging ways.

go glen!

I have a couple of men who claim to follow me but have not as yet raised a comment out of any of them. *sigh* This Glen guy gets around. Good on him!
Glen says
OH MY GOD – where were all you women when I was single? – Had I only known how easy it all is when i was young and still had hair…
Anyone got a Delorian I can borrow? P.S. let me know if you girls need that joke explaining… š
yep – I’ve blown it again haven’t I?
I’m going to make a concerted effort to come and stalk all your blogs – bare with me – it may take a while š
Cate says
Oh thank you Maxabella for the brilliant tip – he’s hilarious! I’m off to follow him now!
Oh, and I get the delorian joke thanks Glen (I have nerdy brothers!!) xxx

I love Glens blog… very engaging and funny and great to read from a male perspective.
Jeez – you have made me feel a tad stupid (its ok I can wear it) – I know its not aimed at me… I have to tell you though, when I was in my last weeks of pregnancy with Izzy, I got all ‘nest protecting’ too – In fact, at the moment I wake up at 3am without fail and check every door, window, lock in house to make sure the ‘intruder’ cant get in. It happens to me when Im very preggers. So primal.
Anyhoo – I still think I am glad I went with my gut… for now. As thats really all I had to go with.
Sorry about the essay – I think this was on my brain all night x

I follow Glen because he uses words like “yoinks”.
