Hmmm… two thousand and healtheaven? I’m reaching a bit. I told you I would find 20Zen hard to top. I ‘theme’ my years these days, you see. I used to have a long list of resolutions that never got resolved, so one year (I think it was Two Thousand and Mate) I decided to just give the year a theme and really try to focus on one thing for the whole year.
This year it’s Two Thousand and Healtheaven. Time to pull up my socks and pull on my runners, because I’m not going to worry about anything other than getting everyone in Maxabellaland fit and healthy this year. Of course, LOML is already fit and healthy and, well, so are the Tsunamis, which leaves me – only me! – to carry the 20Healtheaven torch on behalf of us all. So valiant.
I’m not going to give you a long list of what I will and won’t be doing. Theming the year doesn’t work like resolutions. Theming is just being mindful of the theme. See, like most things that are actually really hard, it sounds easy!
It’s being mindful of choices and remembering that every choice has a consequence, good or bad. It’s planning meals and deciding to go for a swim rather than read a book. It’s joining in on the trampoline, rather than just watching. It’s taking good care of yourself. It’s putting health at the top of your mind every single minute of every single day – I just got a bit new year’s resolutionary there. Most days and most minutes will do.
Effectively, I’m going to keep my Two Thousand and Zen-like composure but add bit of ‘oomph’ to it.
So, hey there – HAPPY NEW YEAR! It feels like I’m going to be running towards a very good year this year. How are you feeling about the year ahead?

Oh good – you too! I love your idea of joining in on the trampoline – I will link this up on my wed motivation post (if you don’t mind :-)…such a great idea

Here’s to a healthy, happy and peaceful year!
I am brimming with excitement about the year ahead, there are so many things that might happen and I can’t wait to see if they do.
I’ll obviously keep you posted.

Happy New Year! I’m with you. Not into resolutions. This year I’m all about Intentions. I’m keeping it vague though… I intend to make positive forward movement. That’s it. Just measurable progress in reasonable time with whatever it is I am doing at the time. Right now I intend to have a nap …
BabyMac says
Ahhhh…and life returns to normal. Thanks for your return Maxabella! Happy New Year.
I too and desperate to stop being such a fat mole and to actually see it through past the first 2 weeks. I plan on running, with an Ipod on and EVERYTHING.
Just waiting until the holiday is over…excuses, excuses…
BabyMac says
Not that I was saying you were a fat mole, that is. I am. It’s all me.
Michelle says
Happy New Year to you, I’m sure you can accomplish your fitness wish with your determination. Rewards always help, some new jewellery or shoes perhaps 🙂
Gifts of Serendipity says
Loving it!
I have a word for this year “Light’ which has all sorts of implications but one of which is to lighten my body.
Looking forward to reading about how your 20-healtheven rolls out.

Happy New Year! Go for it girl! I lost 6kg in the last 6 weeks of 2010, 4 to go. I will be blogging about my ‘revelation’ later this week.
Teresa says
Happy New Year to you too! I have the same focus this year – to lose weight. My cousin (and dear friend) Amy has lost weight and is really encouraging me. My doctor and I are having monthly visits and in February I’m meeting with a nutritionist to help me form a weight loss plan for a diabetic.
Yes, I know I should be losing weight “for myself”, and that’s there, but the way my psyche works is that I don’t want to let all these dear people down so it pushes me harder!
Who knew that being neurotic would come in handy some day? Onward ho!
Naturally Carol says
Well as soon as you reach your fitness and health goals I expect a name change to the year of 20health-heaven! Something to look forward to no doubt!
Being Me says
Geez, you had me almost up and out the door running then. Go, you good thing! Truth is… I can’t jog. I get shin splints real easy (always have, always will). But I have already begun 2011 healthier and done more exercise in 2 days than I did during the entire month of December. That is a crime! (the lack of exercise in Dec, not the daily exercise in Jan….) Happy New Year!
Sarah says
Welcome back baby! And I’m here jogging along side you into health-even xx
Stacia says
I want to get healthy, too. I started by giving up soda for the month of January. Is January over yet?? Help! =>
Lesley says
Cheers to the joining in on the trampoline bit – this is something I don’t do enough, or ever, for that matter. Putting more “money in the meter” with the kids is a big goal of mine this year.

Yay for healtheven!
I theme my years too… last year was Make it Work 2010 – the year of making the best of things.
This year I think will be 2011 – the year of ‘setting the tone’… or something that means the same thing but sounds a lot more snappy!
Happy New Year

Back with a sparkle. Welcome back. You were missed.
Can I suggest – Two Thousand and Legs-Eleven? I have always wanted cracking legs, I might just have to join you on your mindful quest and spend a little more time on the stairclimber at my Lovely Lady Gym. xo
Posie Patchwork says
Welcome back, happy new year & there are lots of healthy bloggie tips from keen get fit bloggers out there, so happy healthy lifestyle & go go go, love Posie
Notchka says
And a Happy New Year to you too.
I like your approach with the theming. I’ve gone the boring ol’ ‘measurable and achievable’ route with a few resolutions – exercise = 3 x 30mins per week but I guess the trouble is if you don’t do exactly that you ‘fail’.
You asked about my feelings on the year ahead – its one day at a time over here!
Life In A Pink Fibro says
Hooray, you’re back! I like Healtheven, even if you are streeeettttccchhing big time. I don’t do resolutions. I’m just aiming for this not to be 20Helleven. Aiming for 20elHeaven. x
Metropolitan Mum says
I very much like the idea of concentrating on just one thing. Might copy that…
Good luck with the running plans. xx

Hooray to 20healtheven!
My goal this year is to get fit and stay fit.
This is a big call for me given my aversion to exercise but I’m determined to find some sort of activity I’ll enjoy.
