Dear Gratefillies,* I know you are wondering where I am. I have seen that loads of our ‘regulars’ haven’t been linking in for a few weeks now. I haven’t even been linking in myself, so I know what that’s all about.
I’m not sure what it is, but I’ve realised that I can’t be the ‘host’ of Grateful and not feel the pressure to visit every single link. You tell me that that’s silly, and I respect that it is, but that’s the way I feel. I’m not sure how to unfeel it.
Soooooo… I’ve been thinking about the ‘future’ of Grateful and I have a little plan. I will reveal all as soon as I can. In the meantime, I hope you continue to enjoy being hosted by a different special blog each week. I absolutely love the idea of Grateful being a moving feast, but please let me know if you are not loving it.
In the meantime, do meet our lovely host for this week – Jody from Lemon Rhodes (don’t you love her wedding pic up there that I just couldn’t resist grabbing from her blog?). Jody is such a stylish, creative and friendly blogger that I know you will find her irresistabubble. I warn you that if you check out her recipes you may never come out again…
* Yes? No? I know… could do better…
Kellie says
I LOVE my magazines and my blogging, so trying to indulge in both!! I find mags are such great inspiration for blogging too.
As far as the guest hosting:
* I do miss coming here and linking up with you, Bron; however,
* I do enjoy discovering new blogs and bloggers.
Maybe you could alternate between you and a guest host each week!! Hehe! π

I get it. I could never do a linky. Hosting is a lot of work if you put your heart into it. And I don’t know that the benefits it yields are worth the effort put in. x
neesay says
I think the current set up is the best of both worlds – we pop in here to say hello & get our ticket to visit a new & wonderous blog each week. You have great taste π
Brenda @ Mira Narnie says
oh you are just so sweet Bron….You know i’m a huge fan of gratefuls….i wont lie and say i’ll totally miss linking up with you…but i love you enough to let you say to us when you’ve had enough…this has to be fun for everyone!
btw – love your gratefuls, mags are just like motherhood porn xx
Tammi says
I haven’t linked up in a few weeks and even though I miss you hosting the weekly ‘Grateful’ post I have enjoyed it travelling around blogsphere π
I can only imagine the pressure of doing a linky party so good on you for recognising the pressure it makes you feel.
I have been indulging in a bit of magazine reading lately too π

just what I needed to hear! – ebbs and flows – lovely reminder…and I think I now need to pop out tomorrow and grab a nice mag to read – thanks for the inspiration! x
Miss Mandy says
I get that, the need to visit. But I can only imagine how much time it must take you to get through that list. Enjoy your break & future plans.
Deb @ home life simplified says
i was finally planning on joining in next week! I need to focus on gratitude myself instead of just reading others’. I will follow however you need me to. (and you had me at magazines – i am an addict from way back)
Veronica @ Mixed Gems says
I like Kel’s idea. Hosting alternate weeks, but as Neesay said, we get the best of both worlds popping in here and elsewhere. I’ve noticed the numbers drop off too but I haven’t linked either due to my own blogging review. Not that it probably helps, but when I got to someone hosting a linky, I don’t assume the host will read all posts. Unless it’s a handful, it’s just not humanly possible. I think the main aim of the linky is to introduce each other to new bloggers and we share the love amongst ourselves. Anyway, that’s my two cents worth. Sounds like you are really enjoying your little break. That can’t be a bad thing.
Kellie says
I’m happy to be Grateful anywhere! It’s one of my favourite posts to write each week, because I really have to think to find something awesome. Helps me focus less on the crappier parts of the week π
I like Kel’s idea too!

Yes, being the boss of ‘grateful’ would be a tad consuming – and on a weekend too.
See what happens when you birth something wonderful – it takes over!!
As long as ‘grateful’ lives on, I’m not fussy about it’s form.
Love the gratitude.

Kymmie says
Happy Grateful Day Bron. I totally understand about the the need to have a break. And this grateful linky is a biggie, and so wanting to visit each week is HARD work!
I miss your grateful ownership, but love that I have discovered a few newbies out there. So keep it coming. Love to hear your idea though. You are such an Ideas Person!
Have a wonderful weekend and enjoy your rediscovery of magazines. I even got to read a quarter of a book today. Travelling in the car for 8 hours is such a good excuse to catch up on reading!

Some Fridays I wake up and I think, ‘Yes, it’s a grateful day today!’ and it makes me happy and … grateful. I’m happy to be grateful anywhere.
Leanne says
I completely understand you need a break. Hell, my Guest Star Monday fails to pop up each week because it’s so time consuming and as much as I love it and want to share the people there are times I physically don’t have the hours.
I would hate to see the gratitudes disappear though because they are the highlight of my blogging experience. I am a HUGE fan. So whatever you need to do to keep it going I give you a BIG thumbs up!!
Happy Saturday π

I think a travelling linky is a great idea. It’s been lovely to get to know others blogs and certainly takes the pressure off you. Blogging doesn’t need to be a pressure, there are enough other things in our lives that bring that – this is our ‘me’ time! Looking forward to hearing your idea.
Jodi @ The Scribble Den says
Bron, I haven’t linked up for a while. Even though I don’t host I still feel I should visit and comment on every link too. Too much pressure and it doesn’t feel ‘real’. I still love reading the grateful posts though, they are inspiring and remind me to breathe. I may join in again one day, just not yet.xx

Gratefillies is a wonderful term. Made up words are so special. x
Leanne says
I have loved joining in on gratefuls- & I think part of the charm is that you are so invested in it and do comment on them all. Having said that- you certainly shouldn’t feel as though you must!
I haven’t been as regular as usual- partly because of the changes, but mostly because I’ve been doing other things.
I will certainly jon in again (wherever it is) when I’m feeling inspired to be grateful.
Courtney @ Nobashake says
I love magazines as well. Never seem to get enough time to read them. Also real books, not an ebook a real book. I have been closing the computer and picking up a book. I never get through many pages before I’m interrupted {gosh kids are rude – can’t they look after themselves?}. I haven’t been blogging as much the last few weeks and it has been nice. I think its been about 3 weeks since I’ve linked up for Grateful for but I’m back today.
I also don’t think people would mind if you didn’t get to comment on every post linked up. sometimes that is unrealistic. I know I never scrolled through my comments on grateful for post and though, ‘oh than Bron hasn’t commented yet, how dare she”. I know it would be nice but not imperative.
Tiffiny says
I get the need to comment on all the linked blogs. I kind of feel the need even though I’m nothing more than a participant. But with all the people that link up it really is an impossible thing when you take in life outside the blogging world. I think everyone understands that.
Personally I think it’s a wonderful thing you have created here. You have given people a way to look for the positive each and every week whether your hosting personally or if others are pitching in with it.
Denwise aka Denyse Whelan says
Hi Bron, I have missed coming here and it’s not you…BUT to that I also say, what an opportunity it’s been to meet new bloggers and their blogs.
It is a teensy weensy whinge, but it’s only that I come to here to find out where I go… that’s all.
Soooo, as far as the commenting is concerned. Not all blog hop hosts comment. I think it is up to us, the linkers to pop in and out of the bloggers’ posts.
In my opinion, it is becoming a BIG ask..and takes your precious family & me time.
You do what you are comfortable with…that’s what I think. I do associate Saturdays with being grateful… don’t seem to want to give that up. But saying that I would help with hosting any time you ask.

I’ve been busy (or slack or both) and haven’t linked up to Grateful for what feels like forever. I love that you want to visit and comment on every Grateful post but I can see how time consuming it would be. A traveling grateful would work. It works for the blogging carnivals.
Whatever happens, thank you so much for starting Grateful. I know it helps me focus on the good stuff in my life.
Melissa says
I’ve missed a week or two as well, I’m sorry.
I’ve been wondering if you were ok? Are you?
muminsearch.com says
I’ve been thinking, if you want to keep the Grateful, you could co-host – post the linky on two or three blogs then each blogger only has to do their portion of the visits.
Gemma @ My Big Nutshell says
Ohhhh it’s nice being introduced to hosts I do not know for instance Kymmie. That was very exciting!
I haven’t been linking up because I haven’t had the time to read and participate, so I didn’t think it was fair or etiquette to play along but only read and comment on a couple.
I’ve still got the ruokday posts to read and comment on, the thought is overwhelming.
Lisa says
I’ve enjoyed the guest hosting of the grateful link. It’s been great to visit other blogs I hadn’t seen before. Don’t stress. You don’t have to be all things to all people all the time. x
LionessLady says
I loved hosting last week Bron so I think the idea of grateful moving around is totally fine! I did make the effort to go and visit each of the grateful linkyloos and left a nice comment which did take a while but was also fun cause I got to meet loads of new people!
Couldn’t play along this week cause we escaped for a few days and I had no internet access!
Rhonda says
I like the moving around, I have foundn some great new blogs that way. Which is always good, although I now am going to have to cut some out…the ones I don’t read or have “outgrown”.
