My halls are decked, baby! Oh how I love this time of year.
We’ve been very busy inside as well. Up went the Christmas tree.
There’s a little bit of everything on that tree…. including a random frog.
It was Badoo’s year to place the star. We rotate each year or there are fights. Who am I kidding, there are fights anyway so I have to produce photographic evidence of who did it the year before…
You could land a 747 by the power of our 2011 Christmas tree lights. We couldn’t get the old ones to work (what is it about Christmas tree lights?) so we used our 300 light outdoor LED set. It looks ridiculous.
Because I’m slightly mad when it comes to festivities, each Tsunami decorated their own mini tree to have by their bed, complete with battery-operated lights. The Badoo’s keeps falling over as she insists on hanging all of her (pink) baubles on the front.
Up went the freshly-made garlands. $4 ivy sprigs from Lincraft that I wrapped around some heavy wire and secured in about 20 places with fuse wire. They could certainly do with a bit more ivy (Lincraft ran out!), but I like. The little ‘joy’, ‘peace’, ‘hope’ (hope is elsewhere in the house, it seems) signs were on special at Spotlight for $1 each. I think you’re supposed to use them as the basis for much creative painting, but I liked them just the way they are.
Noel joins them from the other living room. I took down all my regular photos and pictures and put up the Christmas photos from over the years.
My sisters are going to kill me… but, seriously, how cute are we? Al is left, then me, then MultipleMum. Send help if I don’t blog tomorrow…
That wraps up Christmas for now – wraps up, geddit? Are you also over advertisers saying ‘It’s time to wrap up Christmas…’ Such a booooring, overused pun… anyway…. Here’s Cappers in a box.

Yes we are decked. Perhaps not as much as you! Looks like your family are having a fun time with it. And it gives me comfort that it isn’t only my kids that can fight over such things!
supermac says
Gorgeous decor! Lovin’ every nook and cranny of your home.
Jen R says
Looks lovely, I started our place yesterday but tree & lights go up tomz when twins get home from their dads. I get the old Santa pics out too, will take a pic and post when they are up.
cathy@home says
It certainly is the season to be jolly.
you decorations are gorgeous.
Mammamusing says
Great photos and great decorations.
We’re decked here! Our tree is up and we’ve recycled a few decorations from last year.
Our neighbourhood is also looking particularly festive. I’m taking Amelie for a walk tonight when it gets dark.
Rhonda says
I love that you build on it every year. That is what I have been doing. I also love those little stockings!
Naomi says
I love your decked out home. Looks beautiful.
I’m partly decked. We’re in a new house this year, so I’m still working out what to put where. There’s a lot more room and even more mantle pieces to adorn.
We bought LED lights thing year too. Nothing like being OTT at this time of year!
katiecrackernuts says
It looks like the decorating has been fun. Ours won’t happen until just before Christmas – on the only date we could get everyone together to deck the halls.
Mum on the Run says
Just fabulous.
This weekend has been a Christmas fest here (with not even half the class of yours!) – let the games begin.
🙂
Diminishing Lucy says
We are not decked yet – next weekend, apparently.
I am Christmas tree light fixer-upperer. (I’m a sparky’s daughter – not much that can’t be fixed with a bit of tin foil, apparently…)
And that snap? LOVE. I adore a orange tinged 1970’s snap, and that’s a pearler…
E. says
Just beautiful, both the photos and the sentiments.
We are possibly decking next weekend. This is the first year that Girl Child hasn’t wanted to put up the tree on the 1st of December. She has of course been telling me it’s her turn for the silver on th tree this year. Apparent she did red last year.
Stacey says
Lady I dont think there is one of your posts that I haven’t LOL’d at whilst I’ve been reading! Wrapped up Christmas..yes corny…but still I LOL!
We’re decked … I’ll post on it soon.
I’m sure I will.

we did our’s tonight and before we began I felt so disheartened that we were not in our beautiful house we sold last year – but now in our smaller renovators house. The joy of the children and the touches my boys added cheered me up and I’m feeling blessed to have such a great family amidst my worldly selfishness of not having that beautiful home right now!
Mrs Bok - The Bok Flock says
Maxabella, your home is totally gorgeous!!!!
Yes we are decked too – had to last weekend because of Mean Santa. Did you try the video link thing on your kids?? Mine were amazed…until it backfired…

Beautiful, yay for Xmas.

Can I come live with you in your gorgeous house?
I promise to clean and ummm…eat?
Lol.
Seriously I have a massive crush on your place and interior design skills.

Love the decorations, love what I can see of your house and love the photos.
Cute pic of you and your sisters as well.
We have our big tree and a mini tree for the boys to decorate and redecorate again and again. Theirs has also toppled over multiple times due to front heavy decorating.
sassandspice says
I’m decked too! I also reuse a lot of decorations add to it every year…sometimes I have a colour theme and sometimes I don’t. It is incredibly wasteful to do something completely new year after year in my opinion.
What a great idea to have mini-trees for the kids.
Cath says
Seems I put all my decking onto the Christmas Tree (and the deck, of course)! Wow, the rest of your house is decked too! I really must take a photo of my Christmas Tree and put in on my blog… it is indeed a thing of beauty, even with normal lights, not LED!
Suz says
You are right in the spirit!! We are going to buy a real tree next week so that will be lovely. I put little messages in my advent calendar – things to do for the day or little family thoughts about christmas. I strategically place the messages a few days ahead once I know what my plans are – ie. friend catch ups, etc. Your little cross stitched sacks look lovely! suz
ally says
We decked today too – but not the real deck cos it was practically snowing.
Love what you’ve done with the ivy and the words – very Roman!
We build too – we might well be swamped in 10 years…
Sam-O says
I’m a terrible Humbug, married to the son of an ultimate decker. Not a great match, but we manage to contain the festive decorations to one room and everyone stays sane-ish…
I was thinking how cool the tree lights look, then i snorted water out my nose when I read your next line about them being the outside ones and ridiculous! Thanks for the giggle.
Shelley @ My Shoebox Life says
You are SO decked. Love it. All of it. xx
Toni says
All those photos are gorgeous, but my favourite is Cappers in a box. Just really appealed to me!
therhythmmethod says
We’re decked. I uncharacteristically let the kids do most of the tree – another sign that I am learning to let go more. I did remove a few baubles off Mr3’s side, as there are only so many baubles one branch can take.
I love Christmas too. I’m just trying to find some time to make bunting for our front porch.
Thank you, this post lifted me up.
Kirsty says
O how lovely! Thankyou for sharing such a wonderful time! I’m in love with the little stocking – but it all looks so delightfully festive! (And the photo of the Badoo in the box is soo cute!
Please Do Not Feed The Animals. says
Your idea for changing your photos to festive ones is so inspired!!!!
And love your super-charged lights – need sunglasses in the house this year?
Vanessa says
I love this time of year too! I adore your wreaths and your teeny advent calendar of stockings.
Priceless photo.
riotersbloc says
Loving all the decorations! You did a wonderful job!
Julie-Ann says
So many gorgeous decorations. I love the idea of the ivy wreaths and the words. And how cute to put out all your old christmas pictures. It looks like your family had lots of fun getting everything ready for Christmas.
We are thrilled to be featuring your lovely blog this week on the Decorating Forum:)
Life In A Pink Fibro says
Dear God. You deserve to be decked for that photo.
Lisa says
I’m totally shamed. I usually put up my tree only days before Christmas, if at all.
Your decorations are inspiring… and deflating, at the same time. 🙂
Your home looks beautiful.
Miss Kitty-Cat says
We are most definitely not decked yet. At this point in time it seems unlikely… Poor G is so windy and does not sleep – everyone, including the cats, is sleep deprived. We might but a tree and throw some tinsel at it a few days before Christmas. You are more than welcome to come over to ours and bedeck our halls anytime you like!
K xx
happylan says
We have done the tree, but I don’t have much else in the way of Christmas decor. I love the idea of the old Chrissy photos up. Might have to steal that one!
LionessLady says
Gorgeous Bron! Love your Christmas tree lights!!!!
Down that Little Lane says
Totally agree with just growing on the decorations side and I have lots of growing to do… we do not have enough.. patience is a virtue xx
Morrise End says
Gosh, such lovely and unique decorations. I like how they step aside the orthodox Christmas stuff. Decorating the tree is our favorite thing we do with the kids in the winter!
Brenda @ Mira Narnie says
oooh i’m loving the festive look at yours…. and i’m all for recycling the last year’s decorations again – however my christmas decoration box is MIA!!! I must have stored it away in a really good secret place hey!!! Your kids are looking super cute and super excited too xx
