When I first started playing around with design stuff, I used Powerpoint, MS Paint and the fonts that were loaded in by Microsoft.
These days, I think I’ve got less than five of the Microsoft fonts left on my computer (Calibre, Arial, Lucida, couple of others, probs Times New Roman) and way too many fonts I’ve bought or downloaded for free on the internet.
This is a really good round up by Lovely Little Snippets of some top free fonts out there. To find more you like, visit places like dafont and font squirrel. You can also make your own fonts using the iFontMaker app (demonstrated here, as beautifully as ever, by A Beautiful Mess – but I can’t say I’m loving the engagement photos. Please, keep some things just for you…).
If you fall madly in love with fonts and want to join the Comic Sans Hate Club and serif / sans serif debates, then you’ll be ready for FontBook.
