There’s a little meme doing the rounds of bloggers and my mate Tessa from Down That Little Lane flagged me to go next. “Why I write” is one of those ponderings that has both a long answer and a short answer. Part of me feels like coming over all Orwellian and giving you a (beautifully written, of course) 2,000 word essay on this very topic. For isn’t writing just living? Being? Breathing?
My short answer: because I’m not me unless I’m writing.
My long answer goes a little something like this.
What am I working on?
I’ve always got about four writing projects on the go: my to do list (you may scoff, but believe me, it’s a short story all on its own); an article or two for work (generally on either parenting, organising life, dreaming big or travel); and an unfinished blog post (I have 137 drafts in my folder and nothing on my blog).
How does my writing differ from others of its genre?
Brevity.
Why do I write?
I write to tip out what’s in my heart. If that sounds wanky, I don’t mean it to be. Words have endlessly fascinated me and the craft of putting them together somersaults straight from heart to fingertips. I’m never sure what my mind is doing while I’m writing. I hope it’s somewhere nice.
How does my writing process work?
See above. There is no process. There’s never any hesitation. I sit down and I write. If I get interrupted and it’s a blog post, I leave it and never go back to it. Hence 137 drafts in my folder. If it’s not all out in one go, it’s not out.
Now it’s my turn to gather three bloggers to tell us about their writing experience.
You know what? There are SO MANY gorgeous bloggers writing for this meme, I’d love to gather everyone’s {why i write} blog post in one place. So, in true Maxabella style, I’ve made a linky… please link {why i write} below so we can all enjoy reading about the writing.
Add your blog name as the post title and the posts will display alphabetically. You can also view more why i write posts at Always Josefa.
