I’m still not over the gratitude I feel towards LOML, my personal chef. He’s gone from rarely cooking to cooking up a gorgeous fat-free meal every single night. He follows his recipe and produces the goods. I am so impressed (and would it be condescending to say ‘proud’? But I am). My body is thanking him for it (and I suspect there’s his motivation right there!).
This week I’m also grateful for…
1. Thunderstorms* – the frizzing, crashing, radiating variety that claps you awake and makes you notice. Hey there, I’m the boring old weather and I’m roaring.
2. Emails – such a quick and simple way to keep in touch, extend a blog conversation, have a yarn. Email is entirely responsible for the resurgence of the art of letter writing and I like it very much.
3. Forgiveness – thoughtlessness, mistakes, differences of opinion, the overlooked and the ignored. All can be forgiven. All can be returned to easy.
* With respect to those doing it tough due to too many of the darn things!
So, what’s making you smile today? Grab my I’m grateful for… button from my sidebar if you like, add your I’m Grateful For post below and please add a link back to me in your post. Then pop over to visit other bloggers who are spreading a little sunshine. Happy day to you!

I’m with you on the thunderstorms.
We’ve been experiencing true summer heat and humidity for the last fortnight and some days it was actually broken by a thunderstorm which would rattle the glassware and shake the house.
It’s all fun and games when not accompanied by wind and flooding rain and I’ve relished it!

Jodie at Mummy Mayhem says
I rather like a thunderstorm. Of the mild variety, of course. My boys are very relaxed through them, and I’m convinced it’s because I’ve always spoken about how wonderful they are to hear – so long as you’re in the comfort of your own home and it’s not accompanied by atrocious weather.
Sounds like ‘LOML’ is doing VERY well. Hubby likes to cook on weekends, but I have no chance during the week because I’m home. But this week I got my act together and actually had a meal plan for the first time in AGES! So much better.
Have a lovely weekend, hon. xxx
Cat from Raspberry Rainbow says
Be proud of him, your LOML is a good egg, big time!
Forgiveness is some thing I need to work on.
melissa says
There’s something about a thunderstorm isn’t there – the way the air crackles and the smell of the storm on the wind. I’m glad to have never experienced a scary storm though. π

Love emailing. Adore it.

LOVE your list.
Also love thunderstorms and really wishing we would have one right. now.
Tara @ Our Whirlwind Adventures says
I love a good thunderstorm, too.
I am also a fan of when the power goes down, and the house is in dead silence… it does frustrate me a little if I am in the middle of watching a good movie, though, hehe π
Naturally Carol says
I love your list this week…what a husband! I definitely have a little hubby envy this week. I am having a bit of a laugh at your very dramatic storm picture..hehe! Forgiveness..YES..great and a big tick to emails too! Great for sending recipes to daughters in Canada too.
Sarah says
I’ve been thinking about how your husband has taken over your ‘food’ reins. What a gift, what a stroke of genius. And although my husband wouldn’t do it (I did suggest it!) it’s make me think about the mechanism of the idea. It’s about removing the impulse, the unthinking aspect of eating… Interesting. More thought required – I’ve really got to get organised about this!
Marion Williams-Bennett says
What a great list! Thunderstorms, yes for the wonderful way it’s scary but in a way that you know it will be okay.
Email, yes for the connection and ease.
An, wow,what a great husband/personal chef!
Life is good!

I like rainy weather. It is so peaceful and cozy to hear the pitter patter on the windows. Forgiveness is one of the greatest things we can learn to do. I am satrting something new in the Nestwork where I am inviting Nestwork members to write articles for the Nest if they would like. I would need a picture to go with it and I will then link back. It is different then a feature, because the article is in the Nest. I thought I would let you know if you are interested. Have a great weekend my friend!

Thunderstorms are brilliant!! Even the one the other night which took some of our tiles off and flooded the laundry was still amazing to watch.
I’m glad you see emails as being responsible for the resurgence of the art of letter writing…. sadly these days a lot emails hardly fall into the ‘art’ category, but it is lovely to receive the ones that do.
mel @ loved says
Oh what a lovely man you have there! It’s sooo nice to have someone else think about the dinner each day, enjoy! I love a thunderstorm too, I love to snuggle down & listen to it roaring all around…though not enjoying the flooding of our house so much…have a brilliant weekend x
Maxabella says
Sarah – I think it’s a bit like those ‘home delivery’ meal services or Jenny Craig. You just eat what you’re given and you don’t think about other food. It is really working so well. Very happy.
Cate – more of an observer than forgiver or forgivee on this occasion. I will say, though, that I have always found forgiveness something that I can do. It just makes sense to me to see past a wrongdoing, whether a mistake or deliberate and move forward. Not being able to forgive just eats away at us and becomes a heavy burden of our own. x
Shan says
i love thunderstorms too… even more so now i have kids… they get so excited by them and there faces light up and they start screaming… so cute π
LionessLady says
Thunderstorms during the day – yes please. At night, though they freak me out and I feel like I just want to go and get into bed with my mum (even at 35!).
Brenda @ Mira Narnie says
oh i love all of them!!! We all got caught in a quick storm last night – it was warm, so kind of felt tropical…nothing like mother nature throwing a bit of a tantrum!! I love that your hubby is really taking on this role of chef for you – what motivation, but be awesome!
have a great day Bron

Love your gratefuls ..especially forgiveness.
I must get back to letter writing snail mail style.
I found some letters I’d received from friends while overseas, interstate (15 yrs ago) and it brought back so many memories. I plan to copy them and give my friends a COPY.

Man, I love a good thunderstorm. It threatened to rain all day here today, but the sky never opened up. I felt like a little kid who’d been promised a lollipop she never received. Maybe tomorrow, though!

Definatly love a good storm, being a QLD girl. I swear we used to get them at 3.00pm everyday just as we were walking out of school. Now I sit on the verandah of my QLDer with my boys and watch them roll in, love it.

A fabulous list of gratefuls… I’ve been hesitant to mention thunderstorms because they’ve been not so wonderful in other places, but there is nothing like the booming on a tin roof. Also big on forgiveness and lovely emails π

Thank you for visiting my little blog and your kind words!!! π
PS. What you eat for breakfast, Maxabella!? π Funny to hear that our breakfast is so different. Many Finnish eat porridge for breakfast or cereals as my husband does. π I often eat youghurt with musli. I know that the British eat sausages and eggs. π

Jodi Gibson says
I just love thunderstorms. They remind me of my childhood and hearing the wind creaking the house and the rain pelting on the tin roof. I love a thunderstorm after a stinking hot day, and a thunderstorm at bedtime so I can listen in the darkness is just perfect. π
Posie Patchwork says
Oh yes, never afraid of a thunderstorm, my children sleep through them, being born in the tropics, you get used to them. So no ‘all climbing into Maria Von Trapp’s bed’ for my children, but i do rather like “these are a few of my favourite things”. Love Posie
mott says
You’re right..it’s hard to get a good thunderstorm where I’m at.
Back in the tropics..we’ve had the most terrifying thunderstorms! Too scary to mention.
Great reminder, thanks!
