I think just about everyone in town is aware that I’ve had a shit week. That said, I’m up to mortaring the boundaries and I’m feeling a lot, A LOT, better. And so it goes.
So, apart from losing my mind, we also celebrated Max’s 11th birthday this week. To be honest, I think knowing that my wayward first born has been whinging at me for ELEVEN years was probably what set me of. (That was a little joke. Funny ‘cos it’s true.)
Max had two mini birthday celebrations this year; his first year without a massive party. Last weekend he took three besties to the Australian Reptile Park in the pouring rain, which was about as exhausting as it sounds, but we did have the whole park to ourselves. This was followed by a sleepover where about 2.5 hours of actual sleep occurred. Then on his birthday on Wednesday he had three other friends for dinner, followed by dessert dining at Max Brenner. He’s living the dream, that kid. At least we have that.
Here’s the amazeballs cake Max’s Aunty Zia (the best aunty zia in the whole wide world™) had waiting for him after his schlep to the reptile park. It’s his favourite snake – an Amelanistic Burmese Python. Max was in love and didn’t want to eat it but then he recovered and had three pieces. He rallies, my boy.And look who he got for his birthday! This is Charlie and there’s another little fella called Jimmy, who was resting when this shot was taken. Best birthday ever.
Other things that had me this week:
Nothing much, except the kindness of strangers and the incredible support to be found in the motherhood. Happy mother’s day everyday, mums.
Oh, and we’re having leftovers of this tonight, which makes me happy.
Happy reading.
x

THANK YOU for joining the Weekend Rewind list, this week hosted only by Maxabella loves and Life, Love and Hiccups as Kelly Exeter is living it up in Thailand and I was too depressed to organise a guest hostie. Ah well, a Son and a Bron are all we need to get this party started. To join in simply link up your favourite post and visit a few other bloggers for a read and a chat. A link back here on your post is appreciated.

Happy Mothers Day to you! And whaaat – that’s a cake?!
Want to read this properly, so will comment after dinner (very big week for you though – emotional highs and lows!) But if you are reading, or Son, or someone who can pass onto Sonia (Life Love and Hiccups), I think her comments section isn’t working (or maybe its just me. Augggh! Yay for weekends)
Oh my goodness, that cake is AMAZING! Happy birthday to your big boy, let’s hope the weekend brings peace and happiness for everyone x
Aunty Zia does it again! That cake is fabulous!
Birthdays here too…my baby is four! And speaking of fabulous cakes, I made him a brownie, cookies and cream ice cream, crumbled Oreos, whipped cream, more Oreos, and hot fudge cake. He wanted an ice cream cookie cake and I think I delivered!
Happy early Mother’s Day to you Bron!
Goodbye to crappy weeks and hello to a new week full of promise. Sometimes that’s the only way to look at things!
And that cake! A-Ma-Zing!
Take care B. x
I like that. Other mothers get us through. (And others tear us down. But as long as some have your back, that’s all that matters.)
Happy birthday Max! WOW. That cake. WOW.
Wow. That is one impressive cake! Was he happy to eat it? I would have just wanted to stare at it!
Have a lovely Mother’s Day Bron! Sending you warm fuzzies and big hugs! x
Best gift, best aunty, best cake and best leftovers, yay!!
Hope your big 11 birthday was gorgeous, Max.
Bron, it’s all up from here, Happy Mother’s Day, sweet xx
Holy Crap that snake cake looks real. I wouldn’t want to eat it either Max… although my reasons would be different to yours.
I’m glad you’ve finished this week with a high Bron. I hope the weekend is a good one for you. Happy Mother’s Day lovely. xx
That cake is phenomenal. I’m sorry you had a shit week Bron- hope there is wine with your name on it tonight xx
Bron
Hugs to you{{}} Sometimes life is just tough{} and the odd years with boys are hard, particularly 9 & 11 I find the hardest.
Happy Birthday to Max:):) and awesome cake, well done Aunty Zia!
How can that be a cake?! And how can an 11-year-old know so much about obscure snake species?! And what are those curly leafy things around the cake?!! I am left both perplexed yet highly impressed by several of your family members… to other matters, great to hear you’re wielding a trowel at your shit week. Go you! Go the motherhood! Yes, I’ve had two wines.
I’m sorry you had such a sucky week Hun. But glad it’s changing for the better & everyone rallied together & supported another mama out instead of tearing her down. SM for good for a change nice to see!
Happy weekend & Mother’s Days day lovely! xx
That is one impressive cake! Here’s to a better week next week, for all of us. xx
Great cake! How cute is Charlie! Hope you have a lovely weekend. Happy Mother’s Day! Xx
Wow to the cake (would love to know how she makes i!), wow to the guinea pig, the sleep over, the dinner and Max Brenner (you’re right, he IS living the dream), and even more to the boundary settings. Hoping you have a restful and refreshing weekend x
What a great birthday you throw, Bron. Love the cake. I’ve seen a picture of a similar cake before on Pinterest or somewhere but I still thought it was a real snake at first glance.
Hope your mothers day is great too!
Bron I was driving home just tonight thinking about you and how you’ve been feeling this week. I had my 7-year-old next to me complaining/crying we weren’t having pizza for dinner like Grandma and Pop! She’d also carried on with a whole lot of other petty nonsense in the lead up to the pizza episode too, I was ripping out my hair (in my mind!) Our Miss 4 has pretty much had a little paddy on me every day this week, whether it’s the outfit I want her to wear, the food I serve her or giving her a response she doesn’t want to hear when she asks the question “What are we doing today Mum”?
On a brighter note….That cake is AAAAAHMaaaazing!!!!
WE have 3 guinea pigs, they are one of the lowest maintenance animals we’ve ever owned.
Have a beautiful Mother’s Day lovely lady, thanks for helping me feel normal. Thinking of you xx
Oh gosh it has been a colossal crappola week, I’m hearing you! I hope the next brings much brighter days. And if all else fails. Cake. There’s always cake. Particularly that amazeballs snake cake!! x
That cake! Wow.
My brother and I had two guinea pigs when we were younger – they are great pets for kids, except the ear piercing squeaking can get a tad annoying. The cake is amazing!! (Probably would have given the little piggies a heart attack if you held them too close!)
What a fantastic cake! I hope you have a better week next week Bron, and a Happy Mothers day. x
Oh my lordy – that cake looks real. Scary real! Hope you have a lovely Mother’s Day on Sunday xx
Must have been something in the air for crappy weeks all round hey? Happy birthday to your big boy and congrats on surviving the 11 years of whinging xx Sending lots of fairy wishes and butterfly kisses your way xx
For a minute I thought that was a real snake and not a snake cake! Wowzer! Not just the best auntie in the world but one of the cleverest too!) Hope the planets align nicely in your favour for the week ahead and that you have a beautiful Mother’s Day with your loves xx
THAT CAKE! I can’t believe it is/was a cake!!! Brilliant.
Dear Bron, Big Hug from me to you… Happy Mother’s Day. Denyse xx
Sorry to hear you’ve had such a shitty week. xxx
I’m sorry you’ve had a crap week, but glad there was a very happy birthday in all that. And that cake looks far too real. I couldn’t eat it either! Amazeballs.
I hope you had a lovely day today and were very spoilt. here’s to a better week this week. x
If the person was your freind, they would probably be happy to hear from you. It would be a pleasant surprise to reconnect. If they don’t reply, it could be the wrong email address or an email address that they no longer use.I use it every day.
